Boilermakers International Host West Coast Tripartite Conference
The Boilermakers International hosted a West Coast Tripartite conference in Campbell River B.C. in August, 2011.
The purpose for the conference was to allow the partners in the Boilermaker industry to discuss issues and solutions. The International Vice-President of Western Canada, Joseph Maloney, reported on filling the employers/owners workforce requirements with qualified tradespeople. Lodge 359 Business Manager, Phil Halley, addressed the conference regarding the partners working together on solutions on issues that affects the industry. Jason McInnis, National Heath & Safety Director for the Boilermakers department, explained the Boilermakers Safety programs and Al Bennett, Training Coordinator of 359, walked the conference participants through the apprenticeship and training programs that are open to the members of 359. David Galvin, President of the Boilermaker Contractors' Association of Canada, and Clyde Scollan, President of the Construction Labour Relations Associations of BC, also addressed the conference.
There were representatives from the owners/clients, employers, the International and lodge 359 who participated in the conference.
