International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmith, Forgers & Helpers have made a submission to the Ontario College of Trades for compulsory status for the trade.

Currently there is compulsory status in Alberta, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Quebec and welders are compulsory certified in Alberta. Becoming compulsory certified in Ontario will further strengthen our trade which will result in continuing supplying qualified Boilermakers to the job site and giving service to the public.
