Jack Layton - A Friend to the Boilermakers
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are deeply saddened about the passing of Jack Layton.
Canada has lost a true and dedicated leader always fighting on behalf of working people. Jack was a tremendous supporter of unions and understood the value that unions brought to the workplace in representing workers. On Parliament Hill, Jack's door was always open and he always greeted us with enthusiasm.
Jack was instrumental in supporting our Helmets to Hardhats program on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. He personally took our lobby effort directly to the Prime Minister and was successful in having it announced in the recent federal budget.
We will certainly miss Jack, a fighter, trade unionist and a friend.
Please take a moment of reflection and give your thoughts and prayers to Jack and his family.
