September 8, 2008 - Local 128 members form society to help others
When members of local 128 (Toronto, Ontario) learned that one of their members had a brain tumor, they collected money at the plant gate to help support him and planned a golf tournament to raise more funds. Their efforts were so successful they decided to continue their work by forming the Bruce Society of Boilermakers. They have since raised over $20,000 to help people in need.

July 18, 2008 - 15th Annual Boilermaker Apprenticeship Competition
The 2008 Canadian Graduate Apprentice Boilermaker Competition was held at Red River College in Winnipeg, MB. There were six contestants this year representing six local lodges across Canada.

July 17, 2008 - Lodge 203 Makes Donation
On July 3, 2008 Lodge 203 gave the Canadian Cancer society's "Daffodil Place" a $50,000.00 gift that was raised by selling raffle tickets. Lodge 203 members, administration and staff sold tickets to support a recovery room for people who receive treatment to fight cancer in St. Johns, Nfld.

May 27, 2008 - Lodge 128's Joe McLean Receives Award
Joe McLean, an apprentice of Lodge 128, received an award for outstanding apprentice for all Trades in the Sarnia/Lambton county of Southern Ontario on May 22, 2008 at the 40th anniversary of the Mechanical Trades Apprentice Graduation for the class of 2007.

May 26, 2008 - What is the Helmets to Hardhats Canada Program?
The Helmets to Hardhats Canada Program, is a partnership between the Canadian Forces, Veteran's Affairs and the Building and Construction Trades to provide job placement services to the 5,200 Canadian military members who are transitioning from active service to civilian life.

March 18, 2008 - Support the Troops
The International Brotherhood of Boilermakers supports the efforts of the Canadian Troops who are or have serviced our country with the Canadian Armed Forces. To show that we do support them, within the month each member will receive a yellow ribbon magnet for their vehicle from their Local Lodge.
